Fainting or believing?  Whether small or big, private or public, challenges inevitably arise in our lives. And though we’ve placed our faith in Christ, we can often find ourselves fainting, lacking in courage or spirit.  Sometimes for a moment.  Sometimes for years.

Yet, that’s not how our God desires for us to live.  In Psalm 27:13, the psalmist encourages us through his personal experience, for you see, he, too, would have fainted in the midst of dangerous times . . . unless he had believed.  And there it is – the thought that has been on my mind lately – unless I had believed.

Our God yearns for us to believe in His goodness – not just ponder it, reflect on it, consider it, feel it, or even half-heartedly embrace it. He desires that we BELIEVE in His goodness – that we be confident and cemented in our belief that we can depend on Him in our toughest moments. No need for living with a lack of courage.  No need for living with a downtrodden spirit.

Hope.  That belief, that rooted confidence, in God’s goodness brings us hope, for His goodness is in the land of the living. Hey, wait a minute?  That’s where we all are – in the land of the living.  His goodness is available to us right here.  Right now.  At this moment.

Fainting or believing?  I have a choice.  We have a choice.  To believe.
