This week we’re thrilled to hear from Brittney Basalious! You can learn more about her on the contributors page.

Have you ever experienced your heart beating out of your chest, overwhelming unction to share the gospel or something very specific with a total stranger? You knew the Lord was calling you to speak, but you surrendered to fear because you might say it “wrong.” I know I sure have, and the weight of missing the mark or worse, letting God down later overwhelms my heart that day.

1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

When I managed the front desk/area at a salon, the Holy Spirit spoke so clearly to me. He overwhelmed me to tell a stranger that her father was now in His hands for eternity. I was so overcome by the reassurance and prompting of the Holy Spirit that I mustered the strength to tell that woman what God laid on my heart. She instantly began crying and said, “We just buried my father, and before he died he kept saying that he was ready to go home to be with his Savior.”

John 15:26. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

The Lord graciously used a simple, everyday person like me to comfort one of His children in the death of her beloved father. I understand not every thought or idea that runs through our mind is a revelation or word from the Lord. Jesus has taught me that if something points to Him, repentance, encouragement of the saints, or any uplifting in the faith, then we can have faith it is of Him.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

A few weeks ago, on a Saturday afternoon, the Lord began speaking to me about evangelism and trusting Him to fill my mouth with His words to share the gospel with people. I had thoughts like a flood such as, “Even if you get it wrong the Lord rather you step out of faith and try.” The next morning at church the Pastor’s message was about being led by the Holy Spirit and letting Him speak through you even if you may get it “wrong,” The Lord would rather you step out in faith and try. There were also many other scriptures, references, and examples Pastor gave that flooded my mind the previous afternoon. I just sat there with tears in wonder of Who this Jesus is.

Ephesians 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

Our God wants to firstly have relationship/intimacy with us in ways we never imagined and secondly wants that intimacy to flow through us to others to show them He is alive. We just have to be Spirit-fed; then we can be Spirit-led.
