It’s great to hear from Pamela Polanco this week! You can always stop by the contributors page if you want to learn more about her.

Have you ever felt like those who are apart from God seem to be thriving?  Let’s take a moment to evaluate our perspective: are they prospering? Check. Do they have stability? Check. Respect and authority? Check, check. They appear to have it all, don’t they? Yet, as believers, we often find ourselves struggling. This sentiment echoes the thoughts expressed by the Psalmist in Psalm 73.

However, after pouring out his concerns to God, the Psalmist reaches a sound conclusion. He says, “Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.  Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory” (Psalm 73:23-24). From this passage, we can draw that God is faithful even when we are tempted to deem His actions otherwise. This Psalm, in particular, can both confront and comfort our hearts.

Throughout our lives, we are going to be tempted to question God’s actions. It is easy to lose confidence in His faithfulness when we take our eyes off Him and focus on our surroundings (As evidenced in the psalmist’s concerns in verses 3-7). However, in those moments, we must remind ourselves that God has always been and will continue to be faithful because faithfulness is an integral part of His nature —He is the faithful One. Despite our inner struggles, let us confront our hearts with the truth that our feelings cannot change who God is. He is who He says He is, and the Scriptures repeatedly affirm His faithfulness (Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalm 100:5; Hebrews 10:23).

Furthermore, let us encourage ourselves with the same reality: God is faithful. As His children, we are blessed in ways that unbelievers will never comprehend or experience. Our passage reveals that these blessings include communion with Him, the enduring guidance of His Word, and the promise of eternal life (being these just a few). While earthly prosperity may elude us, we have the assurance of unimaginable blessings awaiting us (1 Corinthians 2:9). As the world pursues temporary gains, let us find rest in the certainty that the best is yet to come for us as believers.

Therefore, my dear friends, let us firmly hold onto this truth in our hearts and minds: Nevertheless, He’s faithful. May we resist being swayed by our feelings or the apparent prosperity of others and instead fix our gaze on the unwavering nature of our faithful God. Let us embrace the truth that both confronts and comforts us, allowing it to ignite and sustain us during our earthly walk.

Friends, let’s trust in His faithfulness, for it is an anchor amidst the uncertainties of life. Yes, our particular circumstances might be complex; NeverthelessHe’s faithful.
