It’s wonderful to hear from Brittney Basalious this week. If you’ve not already done so, take a moment and stop by the contributors page to learn more about her.

Every day, every hour, every minute, and every single second of our lives is full of purpose. We meet our day with a  laundry list of to-do’s, and by the time evening comes, oftentimes we drown in guilt for not spending more time in His presence. If you’re anything like me, a wife, mom of 2 under three years old, and nursing student, then this is your story, too.

Why is it that I desire to be alone with the Lord, to soak in His presence, receive wisdom and grace, and pour my oil at His feet; yet I find myself giving Him the scraps, if you will, the leftovers of my time?

I sought the Lord in my guilt, frustration, and genuine desire to spend more uninterrupted, intimate time with Him. Without fail, He met me, spoke to me, and filled me with His spirit and presence. His presence provides the kind of love so deep, a love that convicts and breaks you apart, that drives you to your knees. . . while putting you back together again.

My spirit keeps speaking to me about being intentional. Over and over, I hear my spirit saying be intentional. We must be so intentional in our pursuit of Christ. We intentionally pack our kid’s bags with snacks, water bottles, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, three extra outfits “just in case,” their favorite blanket for that nap they might take, the portable sound machine, breast pump, and the list goes on. How intentional we are with the comforts of this life to make our lives at ease for the maybes and what ifs. I truly believe there is nothing wrong with living intentionally for our family, ourselves, and our husband, but what about our King?

While the Lord truly meets me in busy, loud, and let’s just say very interrupted moments, He desires the sacrifice of my time. He desires me and wants to hear from me, without anyone around. He does desire that kind of intimacy. He is a rewarder to those who come after Him with all their heart and anticipates that kind of faithfulness. I encourage you, as my spirit encourages me, to live life internationally for Christ. For our reward is in His hands, awaiting us.
