This week we get to hear from Morgan Rollins. If you do not know her, be sure to stop by the contributor’s page to learn more about her.

What does it mean “to trust”? What does it mean “to put confidence in”?

“To trust” means to have faith in, to believe in confidence. “To put confidence in”

means to trust or believe. So, these words go hand-in-hand. This verse is saying it

is better to trust in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to be confident in Him than in

people. We are oftentimes disappointed because we place our trust and confidence in

man rather than in the Lord.

Think about it – this side of eternity is our opportunity to truly walk by faith

(trusting in the Lord) in confidence. When we get to Heaven, our faith will become

sight. God has given us an opportunity to walk by faith while being confident in

Him, yet so often we neglect that opportunity by placing our confidence in others.

What others say about us, those details we just know are always at hand, and more – these

unfortunately keep us from being fully confident in Him. Nobody loves you more than the Lord

does. We can be sure of Him all the time; therefore, we can fully trust in Him.

Doesn’t it break your heart when you are let down by those who you are

close to? Well, that is where we all fall short. We put that confidence in man

instead of in the Lord. Our Lord deserves our closeness, and the truth is, we need

His closeness. So, let’s choose this day to be close to Him and confident in Him

now more than ever.
