Do you still have hope?

Whew!  What a loaded question!  Over the years, John has asked me or our girls this exact question.  Despite the discouraging situation we were currently facing . . . did we still have hope?

Thankfully, the answer was often, “yes,” but in full transparency, there were times when the resounding answer was “no.”  Nope.  Not feeling hopeful at all.  Sometimes circumstances seem locked in, answers seems out of reach, and God seems so very far away.

Before we know it, those feelings of hopelessness, of despair, become the norm, and we forget that God is near.  Quite near.  Desiring that we question why our soul is “cast down” and “disquieted.”

It was in those hopeless-filled moments that John lovingly reminded us that we always have reason to hope.  Why?  Not because we can control circumstances and determine the answers for ourselves.

No, that will not do.  But because God, the Creator of the universe, is our source of hope and lovingly desires to supply all the encouragement and comfort that we need.  What an awesome truth!

You and I always have reason to hope, for our almighty Father remains the “health of our countenance” through every season and every trial.  Just like David, we can exhort our hearts to “hope thou in God” – no despair, no anxiety – just a soul overflowing with the belief that God is in control and has a perfect plan.

Hopeless vs Hopeful

Today, may we all be full of hope, full of expectation, for what God is more than able to accomplish in our lives.  Full of hope . . . in Him.
