abide “to remain, to dwell” . . . As I contemplate what it means to abide in Christ, I find it simply overwhelming that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, desires that I – with all my many failures – abide in Him!
I believe our heart’s desire truly is to abide in Christ, to “remain or dwell” in Him; however, far too often we allow our minds to become distracted by the noise on around us – calls to make, projects to prepare, dinner to cook, errands to run, books to read.
Though we learn about Him as we read our Bible, study our ladies’ devotional books, and listen to Christ-centered music, are we truly abiding in Him? Do we on a daily basis “remain or dwell” in Him, or do we falter because we are instead distracted and without direction?
Abiding in Christ requires that we be intentional with our time, our thoughts, and our purpose. Are we doing that? Are we tuning out the noise to hear the voice of our Savior? Truth is – I know that I can do better. Maybe you know that, too.
And we can. We can choose to abide in Christ, motivated by the realization that a fruitful Christian life rests contingent upon our choosing to abide in our Savior.
So what are we waiting for? Let’s grab our Bibles + lattes and walk together hand-in-hand in 2023 . . . endeavoring to abide in Christ and find rest in Him.
