Let’s be honest—life pulls us in a hundred directions, doesn’t it? One day you feel confident, the next you’re second-guessing everything. The world tells us to find our identity in what we do, how we look, or how successful we are. But here’s the truth – none of that defines you. If you’re in Christ, your identity is rooted in Him—not your job, not your past, not even your own feelings.

The apostle Paul declares in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  Did you catch that? New creature. That means when you gave your life to Jesus, He didn’t just clean you up a little—He made you brand new. Your past doesn’t get to tell you who you are anymore. Christ does.

Think about that for a second. That means your failures, your shame, even your success—none of it defines you. God does. And He calls you His child.
John 1:12 assures, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

Isn’t that incredible? You’re not trying to earn a place in God’s family—you already belong. You’re His son or daughter through faith in Jesus. That’s your identity – loved, forgiven, accepted.

Now, I know we don’t always feel that way. There are days when we mess up, fall short, or don’t act like someone who belongs to God. But our feelings don’t change the truth of who we are in Christ.

Paul reminds us in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.” That means Jesus isn’t just someone we believe in—He lives in us. His Spirit is working in you, shaping you, and helping you live out this new identity, day by day.

So, what does that mean practically?

~It means you don’t have to strive to “be enough”—you’re already in Him.
~It means you can walk in freedom, not guilt.
~It means you can face challenges knowing that you’re not alone—Christ is in you.

Here’s something to hold onto today:  “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:23).” You’re secure in Him. Your real life—your identity—is hidden in Jesus where nothing and no one can take it away.

So the next time the world tries to label you, or your past comes knocking, remind yourself . .  “That’s not who I am. I’m in Christ. I’m new. I’m His.”

And that, dear friend, is more than enough.
